Bavarian National Museum, Munich
What an impressive building, what an inspiring exhibition! On top of that, it's right in the centre of Munich. To attract more visitors to the exhibitions of the Bavarian National Museum in Munich the Marketing Department opted for a virtual tour. Panoramas express more than a thousand pictures and are an ideal means of enticing visitors to come.
The Bavarian National Museum was founded by King Maximilian II of Bavaria in 1855, after the Archives Director, Karl Maria Baron of Aretin, had already presented plans for the construction of a Wittelsbacher Museum in 1853.
The task of the tour was to "pluck the most interesting patriotic memorials and other remnants of times gone by from oblivion". In accordance with the prevailing taste, emphasis was put on the Middle Ages. It seems that anything worth collecting was anything that "served to characterize former centuries ... with regard to arts and crafts".
